Tell me, muse, of the storyteller who has been thrust to the edge of the world, both an infant and an ancient, and through him reveal everyman. With time, those who listened to me became my readers. They no longer sit in a circle, bur rather sit apart. And one doesn’t know anything about the other. I’m an old man with a broken voice, but the tale still rises from the depths, and the mouth, slightly opened, repeats it as clearly, as powerfully. A liturgy for which no one needs to be initiated to the meaning of words and sentences. HOMER, the aged poet.

What a delight: Turkish designer Hakaan Yildirim wins ANDAM 2010 beating stiff competition from Mark Fast. The French €220,000 award, chaired by Pierre Bergé, is one of the world’s most prestigious fashion awards. This year’s jury included Carine Roitfeld, Alber Elbaz, Dazed & Confused’s Jefferson Hack, Colette’s Sarah Lerfel, Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon, as well as Delphine Arnault (LVMH) and Musée de la Mode curator Pamela Golbin.
Who is Hakaan? The fairy tale so far: Hakaan Yildirim is a 37 year old established designer from Istanbul. Upon winning an award at Istanbul Fashion Week, Mert Alas (of Mert & Marcus) encourages him to do London Fashion Week in February 2010, just for the sake of it. A somewhat bewildered (or ignorant) British fashion press wonders: Hakaan who? Hakaan does fittings in a Shoreditch basement. Edward Enniful does the styling. Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Mariacarla Boscono, Anja Rubik, Natasha Poly, and Anja Rubik all lend their support on the catwalk. Carine Roitfeld flies in from Paris. Kate Moss sits in front row. The show is sensation. Hakaan wins ANDAM. The fashion fairy tale continues.

Today's POP is Isabelle. Glastonbury is calling her name!
A muddy field might seem an unlikely place for a fash-off but we all remember how the Somersetian Glastonbury festival launched the wellies and shorts trend and these days is generally known as Kate Moss' show-off zone – after all, very few people can pull off mud.
Mulberry came across the photographs of Venetia Dearden and were so thrilled they decided to sponsor her book Glastonbury – Another Stage, filled with stunning pictures from the festival.

Today’s Pop is David and James. This is the first instalment of personal reflections from LFW SS10. Battle of the two B’s. Part two tomorrow!

Burberry
After too many shows and parties to count (six days of hanging out with Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Anna Wintour et al, started to feel comme il faut), Burberry still managed to close the week with a Bang.
The show. The collection went under the name of “twisted classics” featuring brilliant knotted epaulette shoulders, loop knot dresses and braided bodice dresses all set to some folksy music. The finale saw silver flakes raining down on the catwalk in a myriad of lights. Almost christmasy!

The party. Biggest of the week, best of the week. Celebrities came out of the woodwork. Names? Emma Watson, Liv Tyler, Mary-Kate Olsen, Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Agyness Deyn, Alexa Chung, Anna Wintour, Mario Testino, Victoria Beckham, Harvey Weinstein, pju, can’t be bothered to go on anymore.

Some reflections:
- I got mixed up with David Walliams by some foreign pap, only to have the real Walliams turning up around the corner. When I told David W. about it, he thought that was a real insult. To me.
- Christopher Bailey changed clothes at least four times during the night.
- Victoria Beckham stayed at the party for about an hour. She was the only person ushered out through the smoking zone.
- Emma Watson’s poor boyfriend lost Emma for a while and seemed utterly lost. Bless him.
Ballantyne
James, the ever present fashion show producer gave us this reflection:
The iconic Scottish knitwear brand just launched a capsule collection under the direction of the Saint Martin’s graduate Louise Goldin. Programmed knits, inspired by Aztec artwork, Louise presented some ultra lightweight summer jacquards. What a fine initiative, more capsules please!

Where are the olden, the golden times – when you could judge the quality of a fashion show by the 1st generation supermodel lineup…?
As well you know, the quite informative show “The Model as Muse” is currently on in NY’s Metropolitan Museum of Art (daring summerly city-hoppers can visit it until August 9, actually).
Well, and who did we find as whose bemusing model? Katie wearing Helmut (we’ll leave it at the official name…). Obviously, this woman leaves no man uninspired. Do we understand why? We do indeed.
